CLINTON, MS - A Scott Rodgers three-point-play with 5.4 seconds lifted the 17th-ranked University of Texas at Dallas Comets (17-4, 14-2 ASC) to an 84-81 win over the 24th-ranked Mississippi College Choctaws (16-4, 12-4 ASC)  in A. E. Wood Coliseum Saturday.

The Rodgers play capped an 8-0 run for the Comets that erased an 81-76 lead for the Choctaws with 1:26 remaining in the game. Rodgers finished with 16 points, but most of the offense came from Jimmy Witten who scored a game high 30 points. Chris Barnes added 21 points off the bench.

The Choctaws were led by Ken Black who finished with 15 points. Donnie Haywood added 14 points and Cameron Bounds came off the bench to score ten points and grab a team high eight rebounds.
