LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Mississippi College's
Hunter Kurz set the men's 8K school record as the Choctaws finished eighth in a Division I-heavy field at the 20th Annual Live in the Lou Classic on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Kurz posted a time of 24:15.9 – a career-best for the Philpot, Ky, native – as he finished 40th in the field. Kurz broke the previous record of
Evan del Rio, who posted a time of 24:31.4 at the 2019 Gulf South Conference Championship.

Gabe Poulin was the second Choctaw finisher in the field. Poulin posted a time of 24:20.8 as he finished six spots back of Kurz.
Christian Balcer turned in a time of 24:33.6 as he turned in a 57th-place finish. Del Rio finished with a time of 24:50.4 and 92nd.

Braedon Methvin recorded a time of 24:54.7 (101st) with
Brock Kelly adding a time of 25:05.2 (118th).
Cole Benoit rounded out the scoring for the Navy and Gold with a time of 25:14.6 (139th).

The University of Wisconsin took the top honor as it had three runners in the top and five among the top 10 finishers. Division II Grandy Valley State University finished second while counting the top individual finisher, Isaac Harding, with a time of 23:16.7. Eastern Illinois University finished third.

The Badgers' Olin Hacker finished second with a time of 23:18.1 while teammate Bob Liking was third with a 23:21.5.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 9 as it hosts the Watson Collegiate Open.
