#7 Moment from 2015-16 Season: Baseball Win at No. 12 Delta State

CLINTON, Miss. --- The 2015-16 Mississippi College athletics season was full of extraordinary moments both on and off the fields of play.

The Office of Athletic Communications, comprised of David Nichols and Kyle Lewis, along with a week-long Twitter poll, came together to compose a list of the "Top 10 Moments" on the court, field and track.

While there were many moments this season that had Mississippi College alumni, students and fans proud of their Choctaws and Lady Choctaws, here's the list of the absolute best.

No. 7 --- The 2016 baseball season marked the beginning of the Jeremy Haworth Era in Clinton. Although the win total didn't meet expectations for first-year head coach of the Mississippi College baseball team, there were things to be proud of during the 2016 campaign. One of the feats was realized during the season finale as the Choctaws claimed a 6-2 win at in-state and Gulf South Conference foe, 12th-ranked Delta State. The win was the first over a nationally ranked team since Apr. 5, 2014 when the Choctaws knocked off 12th-ranked Concordia Texas, 2-1, in the first of two wins in the series against the Tornadoes.

Tyler Scholl pitched the final frame for the Navy and Gold. The senior hurler finished in the top four in career saves with six and reset the single-season appearance leader mark with his 27th of his final season.

Four Choctaws recorded multiple hits in series finale led by Blaine Crim's three hits. Caleb Upton, Hunter Bolin and Hunter Hall each recorded two hits as Upton paced the squad with four RBI in his final time in a Choctaw uniform, including a three-run home run in the first inning to start the scoring. MC added three more runs in the second inning en route to the win.

Tommy Taborda recorded his second win on the mound in relief with 2.2 innings of work while Matt Payne, the MC starter, tossed 2.1 innings allowed just one run on seven hits.

Stay tuned on Friday, June 17 when the number six moment is released.
