CLINTON, Miss. --- The 2016-17 Mississippi College athletics season was full of extraordinary moments both on and off the fields of play.
Â
In June of 2016, the NCAA informed MC that they had completed the transition process and would be full members of Division II and the Gulf South Conference, earning the right play for conference and national championships.
Â
With that as the backdrop, the Office of Athletic Communications put together a committee to vote on and compose a list of the "Top 10 Choctaw Moments" on the court, field and track.
Â
While there were many moments this past year that had the Mississippi College alumni, students and fans proud of their Choctaws and Lady Choctaws, here's the list of the absolute best.
Â
Â
Choctaw Baseball took the opening game in the series against in-state foe No. 3 Delta State in 10-3 fashion. The victory secured the program's first postseason appearance since 2012 and a return to the Gulf South Conference Tournament for the first time since 1996. Sophomore
Blaine Crim led the offensive charge going 5-for-5 with five RBI en route to his team-best 18th multiple hit effort. The Mobile, Ala., native became the first Choctaw with a five-hit performance this season and also became the first MC hitter this season with three doubles in a game. Crim finished the weekend going 9-for-10 en route to being named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Player of the Week and Gulf South Conference Player of the Week.
