Hardy Named USTFCCCA Women’s Field Athlete of the Year in the South Region

CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College's Tytavia Hardy continues to add to her list of accomplishments as she was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Women's Field Athlete of the Year in the South Region on Friday, March 6.

Hardy, a sophomore from Pensacola, Fla., is ranked first regionally in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. She is the only field athlete in the South Region to rank inside the top-30 nationally, which she does in the high jump (19th) and triple jump (26th).

She earned the Gulf South Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Year along with the GSC Most Outstanding Women's Overall and Field Performer at the conference championships.

Each of the eight regions – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, West – honored both genders' top track athletes and field athletes as well as the top men's and women's head coaches and assistant coaches. Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.

Hardy is one of three athletes from the GSC recognized for honors. Lee University's Christian Noble (Men's Track Athlete of the Year) and the University of Montevallo's Da'Shaun Morgan (Men's Field Athlete of the Year). Lee's Caleb Morgan was named Women's Coach of the Year.
