CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team has been recognized with the 2019-20 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, it was announced on Friday (September 25).
The Lady Choctaws posted a team grade-point-average of 3.75 during the 2019-20 academic year while going 15-3 with a 12-0 Gulf South Conference record and the second regular season championship in the last three years.
A total of 903 soccer teams (341 men, 562 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2019-20 academic year.
United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2019-20 academic year.
The Gulf South Conference had six women's soccer teams earn the prestigious academic award: Delta State, Lee, Mississippi College, Valdosta State, West Alabama and West Florida.

Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and began competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
