CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College's Evan del Rio and Emma Langley were recognized by the Gulf South Conference on Wednesday, April 7 as the duo grabbed conference weekly accolades for their performances at the University of Southern Mississippi Invitational.
 
Del Rio was named GSC Men's Track Performer of the Week while Emma Langley was tabbed the conference's women's freshman performer of the week, as announced by the conference office.
 
Del Rio posted a pair of personal bests at the Southern Miss Invite. The Huntsville, Texas, native won the men's 1,500 meters as he posted a time of 3:55.16. He ran a tactical race as he defeated a field that included six runners who posted times under four minutes. He had his second best in the 800 meters as he clocked-in a time of 1:54.95 to finish fourth. His 800-meter time is fourth best in the conference while his 1,500-meter result is third.
 
Langley was runner up in a very competitive 800 meters race at the Invite as she checked-in a time of 2:14.35. The time is second best in the conference this season. She also anchored the fifth-place 4x400-relay squad that recorded a time of 4:03.71. The quartet's time is third best in the conference.
 
This marks Langley's second weekly honor this season as she earned GSC Track Performer of the Week on March 24, 2021. She grabbed GSC Freshman of the Week on Dec. 11, 2019. The weekly accolade is the second in del Rio's career. He earned GSC Freshman of the Week in 2019.
 
Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, April 9 as it travels to Cleveland, Tenn., for the Lee University-hosted Flames Invitational. The two-day event runs through Saturday, April 10.
