CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College's
Tytavia Hardy is among the elite of the Gulf South Conference this season as she has selected as one of the conference's "Top 10", as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, June 8.
Â
Hardy is a standout member of the MC indoor and outdoor track and field teams. She is a two-time All-American this season in the triple jump – both in indoor and outdoor – along with a multiple-time USTFCCCA All-South Region and All-GSC performer. This season, she became the 2021 GSC Indoor Most Outstanding Overall and Most Outstanding Field Performer as well as the 2021 GSC Outdoor Most Outstanding Field Performer.
Â
The Pensacola, Fla., native's accomplishments do not stop on the track, she also excels away from the competition floor, as she is a two-time GSC Academic Honor Roll honoree and was a 2020 USTFCCA and GSC All-Academic Team selection.
Â
In her spare time, Hardy spends time with the youth ministry at Word of Life Church in Flowood, Miss., where she works with an event called "Momentum", which helps mentor youth. She will tell you this is a calling for her, because she was not as fortunate as others were when she was growing up in Pensacola. She wants to the person that the youth look up to, a resource for them in any way she can be, whether it be spiritually, financially, or mentally. As she has said, "God called me to Mississippi College and he called me to serve the youth and others."
Â
The "Top Ten" are selected with the assistance of an advisory committee representing the Athletic Directors, Senior Woman Administrators, Sports Information Directors, Faculty Athletics Representatives, and Presidents from randomly selected GSC schools, which makes a recommendation to the Commissioner, who has the final decision.
Â
These awards recognize the top female and top male student-athletes for their athletic, academic, and extracurricular achievement during the 2020-21 academic year. The top male and top female from each group of honorees will be awarded the Commissioner's Trophy, which is the conference's most elite award.
Â
Hardy looks to become the second straight Lady Choctaw to grab the Commissioner's Trophy, as former women's soccer standout, Katie Taylor, claimed the 2019-20 award. Hardy is the second, women's track and field performer to make the list as she joins Andrea McDonald, who was a two-sport, student-athlete (track and field, soccer). Former Choctaw standout, Blaine Crim, is the lone men's student-athlete to represent MC on the list.
Â
The winners of the GSC Commissioner's Trophies will be announced on Thursday, June 10.
