BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men and women's cross country programs swept the Gulf South Conference Weekly honors following their performances at the Lake Charles Toyota Cowboy Stampede hosted by McNeese University on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Ava Dickerson brought home the conference's female performer of the week while
Caroline Perry was tabbed the freshman female performer of the week.
Adam Gomez was named the performer and freshman of the week on the men's side.

Dickerson led a quartet of Choctaws at the Stampede with a time of 19:04.2 while Perry finished with a time of 19:54.4. Both times, reset the career-best for the two athletes. Dickerson's time completed a top 20 finish for the Canton, Miss., native. Perry finished 25th overall in the Division I-laden, 5K race.

Gomez clocked-in with a time of 20:06.8 in the Pelican State. The Southaven, Miss., product was the top finisher for the Navy and Gold as he finished the four-mile race in 17th. Gomez helped lead the team to a fifth-place finish in the Division I heavy meet.

With Dickerson and Perry's recognition, it is the third consecutive time this season the Choctaws have swept the women's awards. The duo join
Jazmin Hernandez and
Josie Whipp, who claimed the conference's weekly honors the past two weeks. Gomez joins
Christian Balcer and
Gabe Poulin as weekly winners. Balcer was tabbed GSC Male Freshman of the Week on Sept. 21 while Poulin garnered male performer on Sept. 14.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 2 as it travels to Louisville, Ky., for the 20th Annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic. The men's race begins at 9:30 a.m. while the women's race is scheduled for 10:15 a.m.
