BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Jan Lukas Becker, a junior on the Mississippi College men's cross country team, was announced as the GSC Performer of the week in Men's Cross Country, the conference announced on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
Becker made his MC cross country debut at the 2022 Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., resulting in a school record time of 24:00.1 in the 8K, which is a 4:48 mile pace for five miles, as well as an eighth-place finish in a deep field consisting of the NCAA's best distance runners.Â
The Saarbruecken, Germany native was the second runner from NCAA Division II to cross the line, passing 17 people in the final mile, and had the fastest last 2.5 kilometers in the entire field.
Becker and the Choctaws return to training until they toe the line again on Friday, Sept. 14, at the 2022 UAB Blazer Classic held in Montevallo, Ala.
