BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--- Mississippi College leads the way in the Gulf South Conference All-Sports Rankings following the fall sports' seasons. The All-Sports rankings take into account the team's final ranking spot in both the regular season standings, and also where the team finished in the conference tournament. The following sports have been factored into the rankings so far men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball.
MC not only leads the way in the total all-sports rankings, but also lead in the men's and women's specific all-sports rankings as well. It was a banner fall sports season for MC that saw many record broken.
The women's soccer team won the GSC Tournament to follow up a second place finish in the regular season standings. The Lady Choctaws rode this to an appearance in the NCAA tournament.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams picked up second-place finishes at the GSC Championships. Jan Lucas Becker picked up the event title in the men's race. The men's cross country team will be headed to nationals after their second place finish in the NCAA South Region.Â
The Volleyball team had the best season in program history, as they finished third in the GSC in the regular season while winning the most matches in program history. They fell in the quarterfinals of the GSC Tournament.
The men's soccer team made a run to the semifinals of the GSC Tournament, after finishing sixth in the regular season.
The MC football team tied for fourth in the GSC with a 3-4 record in conference play.
