Hederman Twins Earn D2CCA All-America Laurels

GREENVILLE, SC,--- Avery and Erin Hederman have added more honors to their tallies this season. Avery Hederman was named 2nd team All-America by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA). Erin Hederman was named 3rd team All-America. The two sisters were key figures in leading MC to a Gulf South Conference tournament title and an appearance in the NCAA tournament for the fifth year in a row (not counting the Covid-impacted 2020-2021 year).

The Hederman twins are the third and fourth D2CCA All-Americans in program history, joining Katie Taylor (2019) and Caitlin Hayes (2017). This is the first time two players have earned the honor in the same season.

Avery Hederman (a junior midfielder out of Jackson, Miss.) was one of the top facilitators in the country this season. She contributed 16 assists which not only set the program's single-season assist record, but was second most in all of Division II. Avery Hederman also added 6 goals on the season as well. The 16 assists led the GSC. Her 28 points on the season was sixth in the conference. Avery previously picked up 1st team All-South Region honors from the D2CCA. She was also a 1st team All-GSC selection, and was a member of the GSC tournament All-Tournament team.

Erin Hederman (a junior forward from Jackson, Miss.) had one of the most balanced seasons in the country. Erin Hederman scored 15 goals on the season to go along with 11 assists. She was the first player in the GSC to reach double-digits in both. She finished tied for fourth in the conference in goals and second in assists. Erin Hederman has previously been named unanimous 1st team All-South Region (by both D2CCA and the United Soccer Coaches), was 1st team All-GSC, and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the GSC tournament.

Communication professionals from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three D2 CCA All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. A total of 39 student-athletes filled out the three teams.
