BIRMINGHAM, ALA. --- After writing himself into the Mississippi College record book on Sunday evening, Tradavis Thompson continued to bring in accolades, this time receiving the Gulf South Conference player of the week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Thompson was lights out in Sunday's 92-62 win over UAH, breaking the school record for most three-pointers made in a game with nine made three point shots, while also knocking down a career-high and a 2022-23 Gulf South Conference season best 47 points in the win.
The junior out of Raymond, Miss. has collected six total games in 2022 with 20 or more points scored, including back to back games in which he went for 22 in Friday night's matchup with West Alabama as well as Sunday's career high 47 points.
Thompson helped MC to a 1-1 week and was highlighted with a school-record for three pointers made in a game with nine. The junior guard averaged 34.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, whille shooting 58.6 percent (27-46) from the field and 58.8 percent (10-17) from three-point range. He scored a career-high 47 points against UAH while shooting 18-of-28 from the floor after opening the week had a team-best 22 points against West Alabama. Thompson currently leads the GSC in single-game points (47) and made field goals (18). He is also tied third in league-history for FGM in a single-game.
Thompson has made 11 starts on the season and is currently averaging 20.1 points per game in 35.2 minutes of action on the court per contest. He also leads the team with 31 made three-point shots on the season.
The Choctaws return to action on Friday, December 16 where they will take on Shorter on the road in Rome, Ga. The Hawks and Choctaws will tip-off beginning at 6:30 p.m.
