CLINTON, Miss. --- Men's soccer player Denis O. John has been named Mississippi College Student-Athlete of the Week Sponsored by Performance Therapy.

John started the week off with a brace and three on goal in the Choctaws' 3-0 win over Eckerd College on Monday, Sept. 4.  Following a 2-1 loss to Harding University on Friday, Sept. 8, he and the Choctaw bounced back to defeat Ouachita Baptist University, 9-3 on Sunday, Sept. 10.

His performances over the three contests earned him Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

A freshman from Madrid, Spain, John has played in all four games this season. He is second on the team in goals, points and ranks third in assists. 

Choctaw soccer is back in action this week on Friday, Sept. 15 at 3:30 p.m. at home against the University of West Florida.
