BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Karly Ivy earned Preseason All-Gulf South Conference Team recognition as announced by the conference office on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The conference's head coaches selected the top five best players in the league heading into the 2024-25 season.

Ivy is the first Choctaw to receive preseason all-conference nods since the program returned to Division II.

The Denton, Texas, junior helped the Choctaws to the Gulf South Conference Tournament last season. She led the team in points, steals and minutes as a sophomore. She finished second on the team in assists, third in blocked shots and fourth in rebounds as a guard.

MC was selected eighth in the coaches' poll. The Blue and Gold finished two points behind in-state foe, Delta State University and conference newcomer, Trevecca Nazarene University, which totaled 60 points. The Choctaw garnered 58 points, which was 11 points higher than the University of Montevallo in ninth.

Along with the all-conference team and the preseason poll, a pair of Choctaw were added to the league's watch list.
Tiara Abron makes his way to Clinton after she played one season at Coastal Carolina University, seeing action in 26 games for the Chants. She began collegiate career at Coahoma Community College and averaged 10.2 points per game over two years at CCC. She prepped at Senatobia High School for Tosheba Jones and averaged 12.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds

Tytiana Buckley began collegiate career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She averaged 11.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists during her two seasons with the Bulldogs. Her prep career was at
Meridian High School for Deneshia Faulkner. She helped lead Meridian to the Class 6A state championship her senior season and was named to the Capital Sports Group All-State Honorable Mention Team.

Mississippi College opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 8 as it takes on LeMoyne-Owen College in the Gulf South Conference-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover inside A.E. Wood Coliseum. Tip-off is slated for 12 p.m.
