CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team secured a spot in the 2024 Gulf South Conference Tournament, which begins next week with the tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday, March 5.

The berth marks the sixth for the program during its GSC history and its first since the 2021-22 campaign. It is the 18th conference tournament appearance for the program, including 13 appearances during the Division III American Southwest Conference tenure.

MC concluded its regular season sporting a 13-14 overall record, including an even 12-12 slate in conference play - the most wins in the program's GSC history. The Blue and Gold started the season with a 4-8 record prior to the turn of the year. However, head coach
Greg Long's squad closed out the month of February with a 6-3 record, including winning three of its last four outings.

The Choctaw advanced to the tournament finals during the 1994-95 season and finished runner-up to Delta State. MC made its first GSC Tournament appearance during the 1982-83 season, falling in the opening round, and made its second appearance nine seasons later in the tournament semifinals, falling to DSU. After returning to Division II, it made an appearance came during the 2019-20 season, earning a berth and falling at Lee University in the Super Tuesday Round. The last appearance was 2021-22, but also ended at Lee during the quarterfinals.

The top eight teams in the final standings advance to the conference tournament with the top four seeds hosting the lower seeds on campus sites. The winners of those four affairs advance to the tournament semifinals, Saturday, March 9 in Birmingham, Ala., on the campus of Samford University and the Pete Hanna Center.
Mississippi College travels to Cleveland, Tenn., for the GSC Quarterfinal Round as it takes on Lee University. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. central.
