BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Gulf South Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week for the 2024 season with Mississippi College's Camryn Bailey picking up her third GSC Pitcher of the Week honor this season. This week's awards were for games played between April. 15-21.

Bailey played a big role in the Choctaws' series sweep against West Georgia, going 2-0 and earning one save last weekend.

Over 14.0 innings across three games, she struck out 15 batters. In game one against UWG, Bailey pitched a complete game, recording six strikeouts and allowing just one earned run in the 3-1 victory. In game two, she pitched one inning, recording three strikeouts and earning a save.

After her performance, Bailey improved to 21-3 on the season and earned her third GSC Pitcher of the Week award, previously winning it on Mar. 12 and Apr. 9.

Player of the Week
Aniston Gano, Gr., INF, Valdosta State 
Gano led Valdosta State to a 3-0 series sweep against Christian Brothers last week, boasting a .636 batting average (7-for-11), slugging 1.182 and on-base percentage of .636. The senior recorded four runs, two home runs, and eight RBI. In game two of the three-game series sweep against CBU, the Lakeland, Ga., native went 2-for-4 at bat, scoring twice and delivering two home runs. Gano also brought in five runners to help secure the 8-5 win. This is her first GSC weekly award of the season and Valdosta State's third GSC Player of the Week of the year.

Freshman of the Week
Hailey Simco, UTL, Fr., Lee
Simco earned her fourth consecutive GSC Freshman of the Week award with a solid performance at the plate last week. She posted a .364 batting average (4-for-11) and a .818 slugging percentage, tallying three runs, two doubles, six RBI, one homer, and a stolen base. In the final game of the three-game series against Delta State, Simco went 3-for-4 at bat, driving in four runs with a double and a home run, leading the Lady Flames to a 9-8 victory.
