Softball Ranked No. 15 in First NFCA/GoRout Top 25 Poll of 2025

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After opening the season with a 6-4 record, the Mississippi College softball team cracked the top 15, landing at No. 15 in the first NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll of the 2025 season, released Tuesday.

The Lady Choctaws, previously ranked No. 12 in the preseason poll, secured notable victories over No. 7 Augustana (2-1), Southern Arkansas (6-4), Shorter (9-4), Kentucky Wesleyan (11-0), Young Harris (4-0) and Georgia Southwestern (7-1). Their early-season schedule featured competitive matchups, including close losses to Lincoln Memorial (2-1 in extra innings) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (8-7).

UT Tyler (9-0) maintained its unanimous No. 1 ranking, while Auburn-Montgomery, North Georgia, Wilmington, and Tampa rounded out the top five after several preseason top-10 teams suffered early setbacks. Mississippi College is one of five Gulf South Conference teams represented in the rankings, with AUM leading the way at No. 2.

Head coach Leigh Streetman's squad looks to continue its momentum as it returns home to host West Alabama in a three-game Gulf South Conference series this weekend at the MC Softball Complex. The series opens with a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., followed by a single game on Sunday at 2 p.m. Saturday's game was rescheduled due to anticipated inclement weather in the Clinton area.

The 2025 NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, with two representing each of the NCAA's eight regions. The poll will be released weekly throughout the season.
