WE'RE IN: Women's Hoops Earns GSC Tournament Berth

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team earned a spot in the 2025 Truist Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Championship. MC is one of eight teams that has secured its tournament berth.

The tournament begins on Tuesday, March 4 with the top four seeds hosting the four lower qualifying seeds on their campuses. The four advancing seeds move on to Birmingham, Ala., and Samford University for the semifinals and championship game, March 8-9.

MC is 14-13 on the season and 10-11 in league play. The 14 victories are the second most since the return to Division II, bested by the 15 decisions during the 2021-22 campaign. The 10 conference wins are tied for second most as well (2021-22 and 2019-20). The most conference wins over the last 10 years is 12, recorded by last season's version of the Blue and Gold.

This marks the second consecutive time the Choctaws have earned a tournament berth, the third during the Greg Long era and the seventh for the program in its Division II history. It is the 18th conference tournament appearance for the program, including 13 appearances during the Division III American Southwest Conference tenure.

The Choctaws advanced to the tournament finals during the 1994-95 season and finished runner-up to Delta State. MC made its first GSC Tournament appearance during the 1982-83 season, falling in the opening round, and made its second appearance nine seasons later in the tournament semifinals, falling to DSU. After returning to Division II, it made an appearance during the 2019-20 season, earning a berth and falling at Lee University in the Super Tuesday Round. MC returned in 2021-22 and again last season, but saw its season ended at Lee during the quarterfinals.

Mississippi College closes out its regular season on Saturday, March 1 as it hosts Delta State University. MC is set to host Senior Day activities following the contest against the Lady Statesmen. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
