MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mississippi College (10-13, 7-10 Gulf South) edged out Christian Brothers University (4-17, 3-13 Gulf South) 61-60 on Tuesday at Canale Arena. The Choctaws dominated the paint with 46 points, contributing to their narrow victory.
The game commenced with Christian Brothers taking an early lead as Marquis Gill scored a fast-break jumper at 19:01. Mississippi College responded with
Phil Nelson contributing back-to-back baskets, leveling the score at 10-10 by the 13:19 mark. Nelson continued to drive his team's offense, eventually giving them a brief lead with a three-pointer assisted by
Avaughn Johnson at 12:39. However, Christian Brothers regained control with a 3-pointer by Iman Kheirati at 9:52, and a late three-pointer by Marquis Gill, assisted by Jabari Phillip Jr., secured a 27-21 lead for the home team at the end of the first half.
MC overcame a three-point halftime deficit with a strong second-half performance to edge Christian Brothers 61-60. The visitors were propelled by
