Choctaws Fall at UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- MC women's basketball fell to UAH, 83-39, on Saturday, Feb. 7 in SportsMED Arena. MC moves to 8-13 on the season and 7-9 in Gulf South Conference action. The Chargers improve to 21-4 and their pursuit of the conference's regular-season title, moving to 16-1 in league play.
 
UAH knocked down 12 3-pointers in the contest and held a plus-26 advantage on the glass
 
Nia Coleman scored nine points and recorded six rebounds, adding three steals to her performance. Ava Craddock contributed six points, making two 3-pointers and collecting three rebounds.
 
UAH took control early and never looked back, using efficient shooting and stifling defense to build a commanding lead. The Chargers jumped ahead 21-11 after the first quarter, capitalizing on MC turnovers and dominating the paint, and outscored the Choctaws 25-8 in the second quarter behind five made 3-pointers, taking a 46-19 lead at the half.
 
UAH continued to control the pace in the second half, winning the rebounding battle and extending the margin with consistent perimeter shooting. Despite some bench production from MC, the Chargers outscored the Choctaws in both remaining quarters and closed out the contest.
 
Maddox Ivey led the team with 24 points, including six 3-pointers, and contributed nine rebounds. Lili Wilken added 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds while also dishing out three assists. Paris Opelt was instrumental on the boards, collecting 14 rebounds, with six field goals to her name.
 
MC wraps up its three-game road swing on Tuesday, Feb. 10 as it travels to Memphis, Tenn., to face Christian Borthers. Tip in Canale Arena is 5 p.m.
