CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College's
Alex Johnson has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Region Player of the Week after powering the Choctaws to a 3-1 record last week.

Johnson hit .400 (6-for-15) with five runs scored, eight RBIs and three home runs across four games. The senior also posted a .471 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage during the stretch. The performance landed him as the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week.

The Albertville, Ala., native delivered his biggest performance in a win over Arkansas-Monticello, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. He later added a three-run homer in Mississippi College's 9-3 victory over Auburn Montgomery that helped the Choctaws clinch the series.
