Fleming Earns GSC Hall of Fame Induction, Cementing Choctaw Legacy

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Former Mississippi College standout Terry Fleming has been selected for induction into the Gulf South Conference Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026, the league office announced Monday, March 23.

Fleming, a standout from MC's football program from 1985-89, made a lasting impact on the Choctaw community through his excellence, leadership and consistency.

A two-time American Football Coaches Association First Team All-American and three-time First Team All-GSC selection, Fleming earned GSC Freshman of the Year honors in 1985 and was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year in 1989. His career placed him among the conference's elite, earning recognition on both the GSC Team of the Decade for the 1980s and the Team of the Quarter Century (1971-95).

Following his collegiate career, Fleming continued his playing career professionally with the Frankfurt Galaxy of the World League of American Football and the British Columbia Lions in the Canadian Football League. After receiving his degree from Mississippi College in 1990 in physical education, he signed with the Tampa Buccaneers of the National Football League.

Fleming is one of five members in the 2026 Hall of Fame class, joining Franziska Bremm (West Georgia), Larry Carpenter (Lee), Janet Montgomery (West Alabama) and Shannon Williams (Valdosta State).

"The Class of 2026 exemplifies everything the Gulf South Conference stands for—competitive excellence, dedicated leadership, and a lifelong commitment to the values of collegiate athletics," GSC Commissioner Matt Wilson said. "Each of these honorees has made a profound impact on their institutions and our conference, and we are proud to celebrate their extraordinary achievements and lasting legacy."

The 2026 class marks the 12th in GSC Hall of Fame history, bringing total membership to 61. Details regarding the induction ceremony will be announced at a later date.
