ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --- Mississippi College baseball dropped a 5-4 decision at Henderson State on Tuesday, March 24. HSU (17-11) used a four-run eighth inning to rally past the Choctaws (17-14).

MC collected 10 hits for the 14th time this season and built a two-run lead late, but couldn't hold off the Reddies, who capitalized on an error and delivered a go-ahead two-RBI single in the decisive frame.

Nick Slonaker paced the Choctaws at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. It marked the fourth multiple-hit effort of the season for the Kingwood, Texas, native as he collected his fourth home run of the season as well.
Creek Robertson added two hits and drove in a pair, marking his fourth multi-hit performance on the campaign and his fifth contest with two or more RBI.

The Choctaws struck first in the second inning when Robertson delivered a two-out RBI single to score Tyrus Williams. HSU answered in the fourth on an RBI single from Tanner Ross to even the score at 1-1.

Slonaker put the Blue and Gold back in front in the fifth with a solo homer, his second solo shot of the season, and Robertson extended the lead to 3-1 with an RBI double in the sixth.

Blake Gollott turned in a strong start for MC allowing one earned run over a season-high seven innings while striking out seven.
Taylor Ballard (0-1) was tagged with the setback, allowing two runs with one strikeout in a third of an inning.

HSU broke through in the eighth, taking advantage of a throwing error to plate two unearned runs before Trevor Flake's two-run single gave the Reddies a 5-3 lead.

The Choctaws return to action on Friday, March 27 as it hosts Valdosta State in the first two games of three-game weekend series. First pitch of the twinbill is 3 p.m.
