Before Mississippi College
- Prepped at Columbus Christian Academy for Greg Watkins
- Won three state championships in cross country and nine in track, including the 800 meters, 1,600 meters, 3,200 meters and the 4x800 meter relay his senior season
- Helped lead the cross country team to three, straight state championships and the track state title in 2016
- Was named the Columbus Dispatch Player of the Week
- Also played soccer at CCA, where he was named to the MAIS All-Star Game
