CLINTON,  Miss. -- In a weekend that featured homecoming and several marquee matchups, the Mississippi College Athletic Department got to celebrate one of it's own with a special reception for long time equipment manager, Tim Yancy over the weekend.

Many individuals that were impacted by Coach Yancy in his 37 year tenure at Mississippi College, made the trip to Clinton to celebrate his legacy with a reception that featured the equipment room officially being named the Charles Tim Yancy Equipment Room, an honor so deserving for a true legend of the Mississippi College family.

Coach Yancy began working at Mississippi College in 1983, serving as a student equipment manager for the Mississippi College football and baseball programs. He later began working full-time for the football program, seeing them win Gulf South Conference championships in 1988 and 1990, the National Championship game in1989, as well as being a part of the staff for the 1997 and 2009 American Southwest Conference titles.

I've been fortunate enough to be a part of the Choctaw Athletics family for almost 40 years now," Yancy said. "That is exactly what this has been for me and my loved ones. It's been a family. And I'm grateful to have been a part.

His footprint on MC Athletics can be seen on and off the field. He is a proud and supportive member of the M-Club, as well as a member of the Mississippi College Sports Hall of Fame class of 2015. Following a lengthy career of taking care of Choctaw Athletics, Coach Yancy retired during the Spring of 2020.

The night did not stop with the reception, as Coach Yancy got to participate as the Mississippi College football team's honorary captain, in a game that featured previous national champion and nationally ranked West Florida.

With a packed house at Robinson-Hale Stadium watching, Coach Yancy stepped on to the field and received his very own Authentic Autographed Mississippi College football in front of many of whom have been impacted directly by Coach Yancy.

With a roar and applause by thousands in the stands, the MC family let it be known how thankful they were for his time and dedication to Choctaw Athletics.
