BOSTON, Mass. – The Mississippi College distance runners made a statement at the 2023 Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, rewriting the record books for the Choctaws' Track & Field program.
Emily Berry kicked off the season in spectacular fashion, securing the first school record and provisional mark of the 2023-24 Track & Field season. Berry shattered her own school record in the Women's 3,000-meter run, clocking an impressive time of 9:54.32.
The accomplishments didn't stop there, as Mississippi College distance runners Lauren Wallace and Bre Bell etched their names in the record books as well. Wallace and Bell are now the No. 2 and 3 fastest women in the 3,000m run in program history, stopping the clock in 9:59.09 and 10:05.08, respectively.
In the Men's 3,000-meter run, Braedon Methvin delivered a standout performance, earning himself a place among the Top-10 list of the Choctaws' Men's 3,000m runners. Methvin achieved a significant lifetime best, clocking an impressive time of 8:26.70. Not to be outdone, fellow Choctaw Cole Benoit secured a 8:27.87 in the event.
All in all, these outstanding achievements set the stage for a promising 2023-24 Track & Field season for Mississippi College Track and Field.
