Chastang Earns GSC Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Mississippi College's Caroline Chastang earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

The Bay Minette, Ala., native totaled 64 kills over the span of four matches during the week for the Blue and Gold. She capped the quartet of matches with a career-high 22 kills in the five-set contest with Augusta University on Saturday, Sept. 16. It marks the third time in her career she's totaled 20-plus kills in a match.

Along with her offensive prowess, she also led the squad in digs with 61 from her outside hitter position. The sophomore tallied a career-high 24 digs in the match against Augusta. She finished her week with an assist, which is the 11th of her career, and garnered four service aces, including three against AU.

Chastang becomes the second GSC Player of the Week this season as she joins Lydia Paulette, who grabbed the honor the first weekend of the season. It is her sixth conference weekly award of her career and the first since she earned conference freshman of the week on Oct. 25, 2022.

She sits seventh in the conference in total kills (91) and is third in kills per set (3.25).

Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 19 as it opens GSC action on Auburn University at Montgomery. First serve of the home opener is set for 6 p.m.
