BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Mississippi College's Lydia Paulette earned Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for her performance this weekend at the Springhill Suites Invitational, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
 
Paulette posted the most kills by an individual in a talented field at the Springhill Suites Invitational hosted by the University of West Florida. The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native notched 54 kills and averaged 4.50 kills per set. She opened the Invitational tying a career-high with 19 kills against Wheeling University. She reset her career-high nearly 24 hours later with 21 against Spring Hill College. Sandwiched in between the two showcase performances was 14 kills vs. Oklahoma Baptist University. All three of her kill performances ranked in the top 10 among individuals for the tournament.
 
The junior finished second in points for the weekend, third on the team with 26 digs and fourth in blocks with five. She earned All-Tournament laurels as she was one of six to earn the accolade. Her kill total and point total were the most by any GSC player for the weekend.
 
This marks the third accolade of her career and she is the first Choctaw since teammate Sloane FitzHenry garnered the award on Nov. 7, 2022.
 
Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 12 as it returns to Arthur R. Outlaw Recreational Center in Mobile, Ala., to face Spring Hill College. It marks the second meeting between the two schools in 10 days. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
