LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Lydia Paulette added to her list of accomplishments as she earned American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American Honorable Mention, as announced by the association on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Â
This is the second all-American honorable mention for the Tuscaloosa, Ala., native during her career and her third 2024 postseason award. She picked up D2CCA All-South Region laurels earlier this month and kick started her postseason award list with All-Gulf South Conference First Team accolades at the conclusion of the regular season – her third during her career.
Â
Paulette finished her career as the program leader in career kills and points as she accomplished the feat earlier this season. She holds the records at 1,368 kills and 1,598 points. She ranks in the top 10 in career service aces, block assists and sets played. Along with her career chronicles, she also holds the school's single-match record for kills with 25.
Â
The four-year senior is the only player in the Gulf South Conference this season with 400-or-more kills, which leads the league. She also leads the conference in kills per set, points and points per set and ranks in the top 10 in the conference in service aces and aces pet set. She posted double-digit kills in 27 of the team's 30 matches, including four with 20-plus kills.
Â
Mississippi College finished the campaign with a 16-14 overall mark and 13-7 in the GSC. The Choctaw advanced to the conference tournament semifinals for the second time in program history and the second in the last three seasons. Bentley Odom became the first, first-year head coach to post a winning record in their inaugural season.
