CLINTON, Miss. --- Women's basketball player,
Keller Bigham, and men's golfer,
Jeffrey Lebeau earned Mississippi College Athletes of the Week Presented by Performance Therapy.
Lebeau carded a fifth-place finish at Houston Classic falling a stroke shy of third and seven behind the overall winner. The redshirt junior shot a three-round total of 219 (+3 – 75-71-73). He opened the tournament with four birdies including three in the first four holes on the front nine en route to finishing with 11 birdies over 54 holes. His second round tally of 71, tied the Sherbrooke, Ontario native's lowest round score this season. The finish earned him Gulf South Conference Athlete of the Week.
Three MC players scored in double figures in the Choctaws' win over Delta State on Feb. 24, but no bucket proved as large as
Keller Bigham's jumper in the paint with two seconds remaining in the game. The Warren, Ark., native scored the final of her 10 points and gave the Blue and Gold its only lead of the game. The sophomore led the squad in rebounds with a season-high eight rebounds. Bigham's jumper helped erase a 19-point deficit and hand the program its first sweep of the visitors from the Mississippi Delta since the 2020-21 campaign.
Mississippi College returns to action on Monday, March 4 as it travels to Cleveland, Miss., for the Derrall Foreman Invitational at the Cleveland Country Club. Women's basketball closes out the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at the University of West Georgia.
