CLINTON, Miss. --- A pair of Mississippi College volleyball players were selected to the USA D-2 / One World Outreach Volleyball Team - Brazil Tour 2024. Ali Wiggins and Londyn Bakeris are two of nine NCAA Division II players selected to this summer's tour.
 
Wiggins and Bakeris join teammate Lydia Paulette and former Choctaws Lexie Laurendine and Kendall Platt, who represented MC in past tours.
 
The USA D-2 Volleyball Team invited NCAA Division II players from across the country. Comprised of players recognized nationally, regionally and by their conferences, the nine players represent five different colleges and universities and come from seven different home states.
 
The Choctaw duo see familiar faces on the sidelines as former MC head coach Shawna Laurendine sits at the helm of this year's tour with former Choctaw standout and Wingate University Assistant Coach, Lexie Laurendine, serves as the assistant.
 
In Rio the teams will be a part of an "International Challenge" on Saturday, May 18th. The USA team will play a three-match round robin versus Flamengo, Fluminense and Barra Mansa Volie Clube. During the team's time in Rio the team will be conducting a youth clinic at the Marina Barra Clube / Ripper Volei as part of their "social outreach project". This popular outreach opportunity for the USA D2 / One World Outreach Volleyball Team is already filled to capacity.
 
While in Brazil the team will experience educational, cultural and social aspects of Brazilian life through city, school and sports club visits. While in Rio the team will be staying on the famous Copacabana Beach (location for the 2016 Rio Olympic Beach Volleyball Stadium) and touring the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf Mountain, two of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. The team will visit the popular international market in Ipanema and Ipanema Beach.
