CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi Christian (2-4-3, 1-2-2) tied AUM (8-1-1, 5-0-1) 0-0 on Saturday at Robert P. Longabaugh Field. The match was defined by limited separation, with both teams finishing with six shots while the Choctaws put three on goal to AUM's two. MC recorded the shutout with two saves and generated four of its five corner kicks in the second half.
After AUM recorded an early yellow card and a shot from Benjamin Hoffman, the Blue and Gold built pressure with a corner at 4:26,
Karim Gegg's saved shot at 8:07 and additional attempts by
Alvaro Pena and
Patrick Vukoje. The half tightened through the middle stretch, with AUM's Benjamin Hoffman shown a yellow card at 17:51 and the Choctaws committing a series of fouls before
Gage Sorey was booked at 34:03. Santiago Dominguez kept AUM off the board with a save on Fabio Guerreiro at 25:18, and AUM later added two shots over the bar and two corner kicks as the first half ended 0-0.
AUM created the first second-half pressure with corner kicks at 50:15 and 51:06; after Gabriel Paes e Sa was booked at 55:22,
Hayden Mulrooney took MC's first two shots, including a bottom-center attempt saved by Jakob Buhrkuhl at 58:08. The stop-start stretch continued with fouls on both sides and
Benjamin Ellis' yellow card at 64:48, the same time the Choctaws earned a corner kick. The Blue and Gold pressed later with corners at 75:30 and 76:24, and after Fabio Guerreiro sent an AUM shot high at 78:53, Paes e Sa put a bottom-center attempt on goal that Buhrkuhl saved at 81:13 before another MC corner at 81:21. AUM generated the final chance with an 88:15 corner and Mikayil Bacar Said's bottom-center shot saved by Dominguez at 88:57, and the match finished 0-0.
The Choctaws created early pressure in the first half, earning a corner in the fifth minute and getting shots from Gegg, Pena and
Patrick Vukoje by the 17th minute. Gegg put a shot on target in the ninth minute, but Jakob Buhrkuhl made the save to keep the match scoreless. The half turned more physical from there, with MC whistled for five fouls between 19:24 and 33:52 and
Gage Sorey shown a yellow card at 34:03. AUM pushed back with shots and corners later in the half, but Dominguez saved Fabio Guerreiro's attempt in the 26th minute and the Blue and Gold reached halftime tied 0-0.
The Choctaws' second-half push was clearest late, when they earned corner kicks at 75:30, 76:24 and 81:21 around a Paes e Sa shot that Jakob Buhrkuhl saved with the match still 0-0. Earlier, after AUM opened the half with two corner kicks, MC generated consecutive looks from Mulrooney, including a bottom-center shot saved in the 59th minute. The half also became physical, with the Choctaws receiving yellow cards to Paes e Sa and Ellis during a stretch that included fouls by both sides. AUM created one final chance after an 88th-minute corner, but Dominguez saved Mikayil Bacar Said's shot at 88:57, and the match finished 0-0.
Dominguez played all 90 minutes in goal, made two saves and finished with a shutout. Mulrooney led the Choctaws with two shots and put one on goal. Gegg put his lone shot on goal. Paes e Sa also recorded one shot on goal.
