CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi Christian (4-3-3, 1-2-3) played AUM (3-5-3, 1-4-1) to a 2-2 tie Saturday at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
Kerri O'Hara scored at 80:04 as the Choctaws equalized late after AUM had held a 2-1 lead. MC finished with a 14-5 shot advantage, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal, and scored both of its goals in the second half.
The Blue and Gold generated the first-half pressure, putting together five early attacking actions from 2:17 to 7:44 while the match remained 0-0.
Bailey Donahue forced a save in the third minute, O'Hara'Hara missed left, and
Jaylen Bodry followed with two attempts before MC earned a corner kick. The home side continued to create chances, with
Lillie McCutchen and Bodry each putting shots on frame later in the half, while AUM was limited to two shots. The Choctaws finished the half with nine shots and two corners, including a late
Gracie Davis attempt and a 41:53 corner, but neither team scored before halftime.
The Choctaws erased a 2-0 deficit late in the second half, with Bodry scoring from
Abby Badurak's assist at 79:21 and O'Hara'Hara equalizing at 80:04. Earlier, MC created looks through
Kaylee Avant,
Parker St. Amant and
Olivia Graham, but Leslie Azouer saved Avant's and Graham's shots while AUM moved ahead on goals by Courtney Pigford and Eva Hendriks. After O'Hara's goal made it 2-2, the Blue and Gold continued to press with a
Cooper Holmes shot in the 88th minute. The final minutes included four fouls and an AUM yellow card, and the match finished in a 2-2 tie.
MC outshot AUM 8-2 in a scoreless first half, with Leslie Azouer making four saves for the visitors. Donahue, McCutchen and Bodry all put shots on goal, and the Choctaws also generated both corner kicks in the half.
AUM scored on two of its three recorded second-half shots, but the Choctaws answered with Bodry's assisted goal at 79:21 and O'Hara'Hara's equalizer at 80:04 to finish the match tied 2-2. MC recorded six shots in the half, while the closing stretch included five combined fouls/cards after the equalizer.
Bodry scored and led the Choctaws with five shots, putting three on goal. O'Hara added an unassisted match-tying goal on two shots. Badurak recorded MC's lone assist.
