Mississippi College Women Stay Perfect with Sweep at Lee; Men Fall 4-3 on the Road

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Mississippi College's women's tennis team remained unbeaten with a dominant 7-0 victory at Lee on Saturday, improving to 18-0 overall and 7-0 in Gulf South Conference play.

The No. 6 Lady Choctaws controlled the match from start to finish at the DeVos Tennis Center, sweeping the doubles point before winning all six singles matches in straight sets. Emily Buchanan set the tone with a ranked win at No. 1 singles, while Rocio Martinez, Katharina Weber, Anna Hudson, Ann Cabot Stockett and Mariana Munoz each secured convincing victories to complete the shutout.

With the win, Mississippi College extended its winning streak to 18 matches and remains perfect in all competitions this season, including a 7-0 conference mark.

On the men's side, No. 13 Mississippi College dropped a narrow 4-3 decision at No. 23 Lee, falling to 12-5 overall and 4-3 in GSC play.

The Choctaws picked up three singles victories, highlighted by Matias Ruiz at No. 1, Florian Walcher in a three-set battle at No. 3, and Sergio Ramirez Ocana with a three-set win at No. 5. Despite the effort, Lee secured the doubles point and clinched the match with three singles wins.

Mississippi College now stands 6-1 at home, 5-3 on the road and 1-1 at neutral sites this season.

Both teams return to action Friday, April 3, traveling to Pensacola, Fla., for a conference matchup against Valdosta State.
