CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College delivered a dominant performance Saturday, defeating Ouachita Baptist, 6-1, at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Choctaws set the tone early by securing the doubles point, winning two of three matches. Mattia Ricci and Sergio Ramirez Ocana earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Mikayel Avanesyan and Florian Walcher added a 6-2 win at No. 3 to give Mississippi College the early advantage.
In singles play, the Choctaws controlled the match from top to bottom, winning five of six courts to seal the convincing victory.
Simon Pfau led the way at No. 2 singles with a strong 6-4, 6-0 win. Walcher followed with a 7-6, 6-1 victory at No. 3, and Sergio Ramirez Ocana battled through a three-set match at No. 4, winning 6-4, 6-7, 6-1.
Mikayel Avanesyan added a decisive 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5, while Lucas Cavalcanti de Carvalho rallied for a three-set victory at No. 6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Ouachita Baptist's lone point came at No. 1 singles, where Ramon Strassmann defeated Ricci in three sets.
With the win, Mississippi College showcased its depth and consistency across the lineup, continuing to build momentum as the season progresses.
