NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Mississippi Christian (4-2-1, 1-1-1) won 3-0 at Trevecca Nazarene (3-3-1, 1-2-0) on Saturday. The Choctaws scored twice in the first half and added another goal after halftime while keeping Trevecca Nazarene off the scoreboard. MC finished with a 10-7 edge in shots and put seven shots on goal while holding Trevecca Nazarene to one shot on goal.
Abby Badurak opened the scoring for the Blue and Gold at 9:13, finishing a
Paula Catalan assist after
Jaylen Bodry had already put the visitors' first recorded shot on frame. Trevecca Nazarene pushed back with a shot saved by
Paityn Settlemires, three corner kicks between 15:50 and 26:26 and another shot wide at 27:09, but the Choctaws kept the 1-0 lead intact. MC created another late stretch of pressure as Kerri O'Hara and Bodry each forced saves before a corner kick in the 38th minute.
Parker St. Amant added the second goal at 38:49 off
Keiran Goodman's assist, and the Blue and Gold took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Choctaws added the only goal of the second half in the 69th minute, when O'Hara scored off an
Olivia Graham assist to make it 3-0. Earlier, MC created a look from
Karah Boydstun in the 50th minute, then absorbed a Trevecca Nazarene push that included three corner kicks and two shots between the 62nd and 67th minutes without conceding. O'Hara put another shot wide in the 71st minute, and the Blue and Gold played through a physical stretch that included several fouls from both sides. Catalan forced a save from Penelope Charroin in the 84th minute, and the Choctaws saw out the half to finish off a 3-0 win.
MC turned six first-half shots into two goals, putting five attempts on frame while Trevecca Nazarene had three shots and one on goal. Badurak opened the scoring off Catalan's assist, and St. Amant added a goal from Goodman as the Blue and Gold finished the half ahead 2-0.
The Choctaws scored the only goal of the second half when O'Hara finished Graham's assist in the 69th minute, moving the score to 3-0. The teams each recorded four shots after halftime, while Trevecca Nazarene generated four corner kicks and MC held the home side scoreless through the final 45 minutes.
Badurak scored the first goal and was credited with the game-winner on her lone shot on goal. O'Hara scored and led the Choctaws with three shots, putting two on frame. St. Amant added a goal on her only shot. Settlemires played all 90 minutes in goal, made one save and finished with a shutout.
