EDMOND, Okla. — The Mississippi Christian University women's soccer team hits the road Thursday for its first road match of the 2026 season, traveling to face Oklahoma Christian University at 7 p.m. CT at Eagle Soccer Field.

The Lady Choctaws enter the matchup at 1-1-0 after opening the season with a 1-0 victory over Emmanuel before falling to No. 5 Dallas Baptist, 6-0, on Aug. 29 at Robert P. Longabaugh Field. Mississippi Christian was picked fifth in the Gulf South Conference preseason coaches poll, receiving 86 points.

Despite the setback against Dallas Baptist, Mississippi Christian's defense was tested early and often, with goalkeeper Brynn Hedberg making eight saves while facing 29 shots. Jaylen Bodry recorded the Lady Choctaws' lone shot on goal, while Olivia Graham and Kerri O'Hara each added a shot.

Through two matches, Kerri O'Hara leads Mississippi Christian with one goal and two points, while Jaylen Bodry has recorded a team-high eight shots and five shots on goal. Hedberg has played 135 minutes in goal and has recorded 10 saves.

Scouting Oklahoma Christian

Oklahoma Christian enters Thursday's match with a 2-0-0 record after opening the season with consecutive 2-0 victories over Colorado Christian and Northeastern State.

The Eagles opened the season Aug. 29 with a 2-0 home victory over Colorado Christian before earning another 2-0 win Tuesday at Northeastern State. Oklahoma Christian has yet to allow a goal through its first two matches.

Against Northeastern State, Zoe Walker scored in the 27th minute off an assist from freshman Rylan McIntyre to give the Eagles the early lead. Caid Jefferson added a second goal late in the match, with Jordan Tanges providing the assist. Oklahoma Christian finished with seven shots on goal and goalkeeper Breanna Wooten recorded three saves for her second consecutive clean sheet.

Jefferson enters Thursday's matchup as one of the Eagles' top offensive threats after scoring three goals through the team's first two matches. Wooten has also been perfect in goal to begin the season, helping Oklahoma Christian post back-to-back shutouts.

Oklahoma Christian was selected 11th in the 2026 Lone Star Conference preseason coaches poll. The Eagles are scheduled to begin conference play Sept. 9, making Thursday's match their final nonconference home contest before league action.

Road Challenge

Thursday's contest gives the Lady Choctaws an opportunity to respond from their loss to Dallas Baptist while facing an Oklahoma Christian squad that has opened the season without conceding a goal.

The match also begins a two-match Oklahoma road swing for Mississippi Christian. Following Thursday's contest, the Lady Choctaws will travel to Ada, Oklahoma, to face East Central on Saturday at noon CT.
