Awards, Medals Wrap Up Track and Field's Final Day at GSC Championships

MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the final day of the Gulf South Conference Championships with some hardware. Daviciea McCartney added to his trophy case as he was named Most Outstanding Overall and Most Outstanding Freshman of the Championships along with medaling in three events. Tytavia Hardy medaled in two events and was named Co-Most Outstanding Field Performer.
 
Along with the achievements on the field this weekend, Rachel Faulk was named GSC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Champion Scholar-Athlete.
 
McCartney won the men's 400 hurdles with a time of 52.74 and then took silver in the men's 110 hurdles with a time of 14.45. The Garland, Texas, native then took bronze in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.01 meters.
 
Tytavia Hardy continued to add to her trophy case. Hardy finished second in the women's long jump as she posted a leap of 5.81 meters. Hardy finished third in the women's 100 hurdles with a time of 14.60.
 
Evan del Rio knocked off NCAA Champion, Christian Noble from Lee University, to win the men's 5,000 meters. Del Rio posted a time of 14:50.45. Gabe Poulin placed third in the event with a time of 14:56.88. Caleb Hall finished 11th with a time of 15:36.60.
 
The men's 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay teams brought home the gold. The 4x100 posted a time of 40.83 while the 4x400 quartet clocked a time of 3:12.65.
 
Fabio Palmieri won the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.18 while Rakeem Wilson was third in the event with a time of 21.44. Mississippi College took silver and bronze in the men's 100 meters. Palmieri posted a time of 10.54 to take second while Wilson was third with a 10.61.
 
Marina Rizk took silver in the women's pole vault. Rizk posted a height of 3.35 meters. Ansley Reynolds finished 10th at a height of 2.75 meters while Nada Ahmed Selim took 12th with a 2.45 meters distance.
 
Ben Woolhouse took third on the men's pole vault. Woolhouse cleared a distance of 4.36 meters in his first, outdoor collegiate championship.
 
Jake Russell placed second in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:51.94. Connor Stewart finished fourth with a time of 1:55.00. Allen Fletcher was 11th with a 2:01.42.
 
The Lady Choctaws took second and third in the women's 800 meters. Emma Langley posted a time of 2:14.72 to lead MC while Jazmin Hernandez was third with a time of 2:16.41. Leslie Baxter was seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:19.98. Emily Berry was 14th with a 2:27.59 while Ava Dickerson was 16th with a 2:29.93.
 
Mississippi College sent a quartet of runners into the women's 1,500 meters. Hernandez finished just off the medal stand in fourth place with a time of 4:42.17 to lead MC. Langley finished one spot back of Hernandez with a time of 4:43.93. Dickerson finished eighth with a 4:54.89 while Berry was 10th with a 4:59.55
 
Zach McManus finished sixth in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.82 meters while Connor Stewart was 11th with a 6.07-meter jump.
Madeline Campbell finished eighth in the women's 5K as she posted a time of 18:52.46. Ereyonna Gore finished ninth in the women's 400 meters with a 58.41 while Meghan Beccera was 14th with a time of 1:00.48.
 
The women's 4x400 squad finished sixth with a time of 4:03.22.
 
Dalton Dempsey finished just off the medal stand in the men's 400 meters with a time of 48.47. Will Grames took sixth with a 49.12. Mason Quimby finished 10th in the men's javelin as he posted a throw of 36.81 meters. Alec Beers and Russell finished 10th and 12th respectively in the men's 1,500 meters. Beers posted a time of 4:11.17 while Russell clocked a time of 4:12.50.
 
The Choctaws finished third overall with 192.5 points while the Lady Choctaws finished fourth with 84 points.
