INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – May 16, 2023 – Mississippi College is proud to announce the official qualification of several premier Track and Field athletes for the highly-anticipated 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Kevin Turner, Niklas Klei, and Jan Lukas Becker will represent the Choctaws in individual competitions. Turner is set to compete in the Men's 100-meter dash, Klei in the Men's 400-meter dash, and Becker in the Men's 10,000-meter run.
Further amplifying the excitement, the Choctaws will also be represented in the Men's 4x400-meter relay by a formidable quartet consisting of Klei, Gabe Hodson, Connor Stewart, and Fabio Palmieri, with Brandon Williams serving as an alternate
These qualifications follow a commendable performance at the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. Klei secured a third-place finish in the Men's 400-meter dash, while Becker claimed third place in the Men's 5,000-meter run. Our Men's 4x400-meter relay team also made an impressive showing, finishing fourth overall.
It's noteworthy to mention that for three consecutive years, our 4x400-meter relay team has earned the honor of competing at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The prestigious 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place in Pueblo, Colorado, hosted by CSU-Pueblo, with commencement of the action on Thursday, May 25, at 11:30 AM C.T. The first Choctaw to take center stage will be Klei in the Men's 400-meter dash, set to go off at 6:55 PM C.T.
