CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College senior outfielder
JT Vance has been named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, April 29, following a dominant showing at the plate during a 4-0 week for the Choctaws.
This marks Vance's second GSC weekly honor of the 2025 season and the fourth of his career. This is the fourth weekly honor for the Blue and Gold this season.
Vance was unstoppable over the four-game stretch, hitting .533 (8-for-15) with 13 RBI and six runs scored. He showcased his power with three home runs and a triple, posting a staggering 1.267 slugging percentage and reaching base at a .632 clip.
He began the week with a 2-for-4 outing, including a three-run homer, at Arkansas-Monticello. In a key GSC sweep of Delta State, Vance capped the series with a 4-for-4, six-RBI performance that featured a home run, triple, walk, and three runs scored. The sweep was the first of the Statesmen in program history and the first series victory since 1993. Defensively, he remained perfect in the field, recording six putouts without an error for a 1.000 fielding percentage.
MC reached a significant milestone this season, recording its eighth 30-plus win campaign in program history and the second under head coach Jeremy Haworth. The Choctaws also notched their second 20-plus win season in conference play over the last 30-plus years—marking the first time since 2019—also under Haworth's leadership.
