DESTIN, Fla. --- Mississippi College women's golf placed sixth in a strong national field at the Emerald Coast Collegiate at Sandestin Resort, finishing with a 54-hole total of 891 (296-289-306).

MC posted its best round of the tournament in round two with a 289, helping the Choctaws secure a top-six finish in a field that featured several nationally ranked programs.

The Choctaws were led by
Sydney Moss, who turned in one of the top individual performances of the tournament. Moss tied for second overall at even-par 213, posting rounds of 70, 70 and 73 to finish just one shot off medalist Lucy Kate Smith (212) of the University of Texas at Tyler (212).

Ashlynd Madden added a top-25 finish, tying for 23rd at 221 (+8) with rounds of 71, 72 and 78.
Allie Myers tied for 29th at 225 (+12) after posting 75, 73 and 77 across the three rounds.

Sofia Mendez finished 55th with a 232 (+19), while Ana Quintanilla Gutierrez rounded out the Choctaw lineup with a 249 (+36).

UT Tyler captured the team title, followed by St. Mary's (Texas) (870), Flagler (879), West Florida (886) and Washburn (890). Mississippi College finished just one stroke behind Washburn and one ahead of West Texas A&M (892).
MC returns to action on Monday, March 16 as it travels to the Pelican State for the Hal Sutton Invitational in Bossier City, La.Â
