CLINTON, Miss. — The No. 6 Mississippi College women's tennis team continued its dominant start to the season Tuesday, rolling to a 7-0 sweep over Delta State at the MC Tennis Complex.

With the win, Mississippi College improved to 14-0 overall and 3-0 in Gulf South Conference play, remaining the only undefeated team in the nation this season.

The Lady Choctaws wasted no time taking control, securing the doubles point with convincing victories at the top two positions. Emily Buchanan and Ann Cabot Stockett cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Rune Van Wyk and Katharina Weber matched that score at No. 2 to clinch the point.

Mississippi College carried that momentum into singles play, sweeping all six courts in straight sets.

Buchanan set the tone at No. 1 singles with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory, while Rocio Martinez followed with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2. Weber added another straight-set triumph at No. 3, winning 6-4, 6-3.

Van Wyk battled through the most competitive match of the day at No. 4, rallying for a three-set victory, 6-1, 6-7 (8-10), 1-0 (10-6), to secure the clinch.

Anna Hudson and Stockett closed out the sweep with strong performances at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Hudson posted a 6-2, 6-0 win, while Stockett sealed the match with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

Mississippi College has now won 14 straight matches to open the season, including a perfect 6-0 mark at home.

The Lady Choctaws will return to action this weekend with a trio of road matches, beginning Saturday at Montevallo at 10 a.m. CT. Mississippi College will then face Auburn Montgomery and Tuskegee on Sunday in Montgomery, Alabama.
