Women's Golf in Second After Opening Round at GSC Championship

DICKSON, Tenn. --- Mississippi College women's golf positioned itself as an early contender at the 2026 Gulf South Conference Women's Golf Championship, carding a 16-over 304 to sit in second place after Monday's opening round at Greystone Golf Club.

The Choctaws trail only West Florida (+2) and hold a slim advantage over Lee (+18) and Trevecca Nazarene (+19) heading into the second round of the stroke-play event.

MC was led by Allie Myers, who turned in a 2-over 74 to finish tied for sixth. Myers paced the lineup with a steady round, keeping the Choctaws within striking distance of the lead. Sofia Mendez and Ana Quintanilla Gutierrez each added rounds of 4-over 76, delivering consistent play in the middle of the lineup.

Ashlynd Madden recorded a 6-over 78, grinding through a tough day on the course to contribute a counting score. Sydney Moss matched that effort with a 78 of her own, rounding out the Choctaws' scoring five and helping maintain their position near the top of the standings.

West Florida's Millie Thompson and Isabela Urruchua share the individual lead at 2-under 70, setting the pace for the tournament.

Second-round play is scheduled to continue Tuesday, Apr. 21 with MC aiming to close the gap and contend for the conference title.
