CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's golf team will begin a new era on Monday when they compete in the Carey Collegiate Classic, hosted by William Carey in Hattiesburg, MS.
 
On May 11^th, Mississippi College president Dr. Blake Thompson and athletics director Mike Jones announced the creation of a women's golf program on the Clinton campus.
 
Brent Belton, the head professional at Bay Pointe Resort and Golf Club, has been tabbed as the team's head coach. He has been the owner, general manager and pro at Bay Pointe since 1991 and has been teaching golf for nearly 40 years.
 
The 2020-21 team features a pair of freshman in Jenna Belton (Brandon, Miss.) and Sarah Hodson (Raceland, La.).
 
Competing in the Carey Collegiate Classic will be five women's teams: Loyola (LA), MC, Mobile and William Carey (2). The teams will play 18 holes on Monday and wrap up the tournament on Tuesday with another 18.
