Ergle Named Player of the Week By Gulf South Conference

CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College's Jenna Ergle  was tabbed the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, following her performance on the field this past weekend at Delta State.

Ergle was a key contributor in the Choctaws three game sweep of the Lady Statesmen, finishing the weekend with six total hits in eight at bats, with two home runs, two doubles, and seven runs batted in. 

In Sunday's final game of the weekend, Ergle finished with two home runs in an 8-7 win, including a three-run home run that tied the contest up at 5-5 in the fifth inning, before putting MC up 8-6 with a two run home run in the sixth inning. 

For the season, Ergle leads the team with a .347 batting average. She also is tied for the team lead with eight home runs and nine doubles. Ergle has produced 21 runs scores, as well as batting in 26 runs,  35 hits, and a slugging percentage of .673 on the year.

The Lady Choctaws return to action for a weekend series on Friday at home versus Montevallo with first pitch set on Friday at 5 p.m. at the MC Softball Complex
 


Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and began competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
