Drake Tabbed NCBWA South Region Hitter of the Week

DALLAS --- Mississippi College outfielder Cole Drake continued to add accolades to his ledger as he was named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Hitter of the Week, as announced by the association on Wednesday, March 29, for his efforts last week during the Choctaw four baseball games. The former Holmes Community College standout picked up Gulf South Conference laurels earlier in the week.

Drake led the Blue and Gold as it picked up a GSC series win over Lee University over the weekend en route to a 2-2 week. The sophomore led the conference in RBI with nine as he collected them on seven hits, including six for extra bases (three doubles and three home runs). He also scored seven times during the four-game stretch.

During the run this weekend, he posted a pair of four RBI performances. He is one of two Choctaw to accomplish the feat this season as he joins Jordan Rollins. The team has eight on the season. He added a slugging clip of 1.267 for the week and a .500 on-base percentage.

The Brandon, Miss., native ranks third on the team in batting average (.364), home runs (five) and doubles (four) during his 14 contests this season. His home run total lands in the top 25 in the conference.

Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, March 31 as it hosts Auburn University at Montgomery in a three-game, GSC series. First pitch of the series-opener is set for 6 p.m.
