BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Mississippi College infielder,
Wesley Sides, earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, Feb. 6. This marks the first conference weekly award for the junior.

Sides had an impressive showing in the opening week of the season. The Southaven, Miss., native finished the week with a GSC-best seven RBI and two home runs. His second homer of the season gave the Choctaws a walk-off win on Saturday, their second of the series. He finished with four RBI, in the second walk-off victory, tied for second most in the league

He finished the week ranked fourth in slugging percentage (1.100) and fifth in OPS (1.562). He posted a .400 batting clip over the three games. Along with his two home runs, he added a double, recorded a stolen base and was flawless in the field converting 21 putouts and an assist in 22 chances in the field.

Sides is the first player since
Cole Drake on March 28 to garner the weekly award.

Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, Feb. 9 as it hosts Miles College in the first of a three-game series. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Frierson Field at Dickins-Scoper Stadium.
