Vance Named NCBWA South Region Player of the Week

LAKELAND, Fla. --- Mississippi College baseball player, JT Vance, earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Region Player of the Week, as announced by the Association on Thursday, March 21.

The Union, Miss., native picked up Gulf South Conference Player of the Week earlier in the week for the second time this season as well.

Vance earned his second regional award of the season after a productive week driving in nine runs while going 8-for-18 (.444) at the plate. The junior outfielder's weekly ledger also included six runs scored, 1.111 slugging, and four home runs. He appeared in all four of the Choctaws' games during the week, which began with a 4-for-6 outing at the plate with four RBI, two runs scored, and two long balls including a walk-off homer in an 8-7 win over Henderson State. The four hits against the Reddies matched a career-high.

In the conference series against Montevallo, Vance was 5-for-12 (.417) and had five RBI and two home runs. The two homers moved Vance to the conference leader and in the top 10 in NCAA Division II.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, March 23 as it travels to the Peach State for a three-game, conference series against Shorter University. First pitch in Rome, Ga., is at 1 p.m. central.
