LAKELAND, Fla. — Five Mississippi College players have been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-South Region team, the association released on Friday, May 16.
 
Bryce LaRocca, Jordan Evans, Logan Shurden, JT Vance, and Korey Cooper each earned the prestigious regional honor after leading one of the region's most potent offenses and guiding the Choctaws to their first NCAA postseason appearance since 2018.
 
The five honorees are the most by any Gulf South Conference team on the list.
 
LaRocca, a consistent force at the plate, batted .349 with 13 home runs and 63 RBI, compiling a 1.049 OPS over 55 games. Evans matched that power with speed, posting a .354 average with 12 home runs, 49 RBI, and a team-high 25 stolen bases.
 
Cooper led the team in batting average at .356 and knocked in 58 runs, adding 12 homers and a .601 slugging percentage. Shurden, a disciplined hitter with a .453 on-base percentage, delivered 43 RBI and showed versatility with 14 doubles and three triples.
 
Vance added pop from the middle of the lineup, finishing with 14 home runs, 58 RBI, and a .958 OPS while batting .307 on the year.
 
All five garnered All-GSC honors earlier this season. Vance was a three-time all-region selection a year ago while this marks a first for LaRocca, Evans, Shurden and Cooper.
 
The NCBWA's All-Region selections are voted on by national members and highlight the top talent across all levels of collegiate baseball.
 
Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, May 16 as it takes on No. 1 Tampa in the winner's bracket game of the NCAA Division II South I Regional. First pitch is 4 p.m. CT.
